If you have benefits through work or a supplemental insurance plan, it's likely you have an eye and vision allowance. Depending on your plan, you could claim the cost of an eye exam. With direct billing, we'll bill the insurance company directly, so you're not paying out of pocket for covered expenses.

Having regular eye examinations is an important part of preventative health care. A comprehensive eye exam will evaluate not only how well you see, but also identify potential eye diseases. Some eye diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, can result in serious vision loss if not detected and treated early.
Regular eye exams ensure your eyes are healthy
If you are between the ages of 20 to 65 years old, it is recommended that you should have a comprehensive eye exam at least every two years. Ontario residents who are under 20 years old or over 65 years old are eligible for free eye exams every year through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP card).
Dr. Bonnie Wan graduated in 2003 from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry. Upon graduation, she had the great opportunity to work alongside many Toronto area ophthalmologists who are corneal specialists, glaucoma specialists and retinal specialists. While working in these ophthalmology clinics, she has gained a lot experience in diagnosing and managing many eye diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Wan grew up in this North York neighborhood, and she enjoys serving this vibrant and diverse community. She is married and has two children.
Dr. Karen Truong obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto and then attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston Massachusetts, where she graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry. She completed her externships at a variety of clinical sites, including the Manchester VA Medical Center in New Hampshire, where she concentrated on the treatment and management of eye diseases. Dr. Truong’s other externships included primary eye care, pediatric eye exams, and contact lens fittings. She is board certified to practice in both the USA and Canada. Her professional affiliations include the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Associations of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Our office is located in the heart of North York. We are conveniently located between Sheppard Ave and Empress Ave. We are walking distance from both the North York Subway Station and Sheppard Station.
